Staff Spotlight: Memphis Medical Society Intern Madison Hough

I’m a Memphis native currently studying Health Sciences at the University of Memphis, with a concentration in Healthcare Leadership. I’ve always been interested in healthcare, but am especially drawn to the business and organizational side of the industry.

My dream is to build a career where I make a difference beyond direct patient care by supporting healthcare professionals, strengthening our healthcare community, and contributing to its continued growth and improvement.

So far, my experience with the Memphis Medical Society has been incredibly rewarding. I’ve gotten a behind-the-scenes look at all the different pieces that go into supporting Memphis’ medical community. Every day brings an opportunity to learn something new, meet people throughout the healthcare field, and better understand the role MMS plays in connecting and supporting physicians and the community.

Through this internship, I hope to gain a better understanding of the many career opportunities available within healthcare while also building meaningful professional relationships through hands-on experiences. Most importantly, I want to learn as much as I can from the people around me. I hope to leave the internship with a clearer understanding of my own strengths and passions—and where I can use them to make the greatest impact.

Outside of school and my internship, I love teaching dance, photography, and painting. I also enjoy spending time with my fiancé, my two cats, and my friends and family.

Memphis has a rich culture and sense of connection throughout the city. There are so many things bringing us together, from cheering for the Grizzlies, the Redbirds, and the Tigers to exploring the city’s music and food. I love the pride people have in Memphis and the way that shared pride can make a big city feel like a close-knit community.
