In Memory of Aaron Haynes

Dear friends and colleagues,

We thought it would be important to make our leadership aware of the passing of a dear friend to our Society, particularly those outside of UT who may not have had the pleasure of knowing Aaron Haynes.

Aaron most recently served as the Assistant Dean of Graduate Medical Education for UT Health Sciences. Among his many contributions to the community of medicine, he is almost singularly responsible for the strong connection that MMS and TMA have to the UTHS GME community. His generosity of spirit has enabled us to support and educate thousands of UTHS Resident Physicians about the importance of our mission.

He took extra time to meet with our staff to inform our strategic plan, refer potential members, and recommend volunteer leaders for our organization. He often shared this time and talent us and many others without being asked. Once or twice a year, Aaron and I would meet and commiserate about all things healthcare advocacy. He had a global mind, yet was clearly dedicated to his GME pack, which includes countless physicians in training, faculty, staff, and community members.

Losing Aaron has significantly impacted our staff and many of our members. We will miss him dearly.

UTHS College of Medicine has shared additional details about how to support Aaron’s memory and his family.
