A-26 Election Committee Report

As per the reporting requirements of our campaign rules, the following is a summary of the Election Committee’s (EC) activities for the Annual 2026 campaign and election cycle:

Your Election Committee reports that there was one complaint filed during the A-26 election cycle which the committee determined was unsubstantiated.

Your Election Committee is currently reviewing several areas of the election rules and will have a report at the 2026 Interim Meeting with recommended clarifications. If you have comments/suggestions regarding campaign-related issues, please email to jeanne.uehling@ama-assn.org no later than Monday, July 20, 2026. We would especially appreciate candidates’ impressions/suggestions.

Election Committee Volunteers

The Speakers are seeking volunteers to serve on the Election Committee. EC members are eligible for reappointment annually up to 4 terms sequentially and up to 8 years in total. Terms will begin immediately following the 2026 Interim Meeting. You must also agree not to be directly involved in a campaign during your tenure.

The primary role of the EC is to work with the Speakers to adjudicate any election complaints. Additional roles are determined by the Speaker and may include monitoring election reforms; responding to requests from the Speaker for input on election issues as they arise; reviewing the campaign complaint reporting, validation and resolution process; and making recommendations to the House regarding campaign/election issues.

Please fill out the Election Committee Volunteer Form by Thursday, August 13, 2026, by 5 pm CT, if interested.
