MMS Hall of Fame 2026: Reed Baskin, M.D.

Dr. Reed C. Baskin is a distinguished internist and oncologist whose career spans more than six decades and reflects a deep commitment to compassionate, service-driven medicine. After earning his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine in 1966, Dr. Baskin completed his internal medicine training at the University of Tennessee before specializing in oncology and hematology. 

Throughout his career, Dr. Baskin cared for patients with cancer and complex blood disorders, earning widespread respect for his clinical expertise, integrity, and patient advocacy. After retiring from active practice, Dr. Baskin returned to clinical service by volunteering at Church Health, where he continues to provide care to patients with limited access to healthcare, often at little or no cost. 

Dr. Baskin’s commitment to service has been recognized through numerous honors, including the Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare Living Award and the UTHSC College of Medicine Outstanding Alumnus Award. His impact also extends beyond medicine through the establishment of the Reed C. Baskin Legacy Scholarship at the University of Memphis, supporting future students. Dr. Baskin exemplifies a lifelong dedication to healing, education, and service.
