Membership into the Tennessee Medical Society includes membership into the Memphis Medical Society.

Explanation of classifications
Provisional and Regular Membership
Every licensed physician who is a graduate of a medical school approved by the AMA Council on Medical Education and resides or practices in Shelby County, Tennessee, is eligible for Provisional Membership. Provisional members are automatically granted Regular Membership after one year. Regular members are equally privileged to attend all meetings, to take part in all proceedings and are eligible for any office or honor bestowed on the Society.
Intern/Resident Members
All Interns and Resident in local hospitals are eligible for such membership. They have the privilege of the floor and the right to vote, but are not eligible to hold office.
Student Membership
Students currently enrolled in the University of Tennessee College of Medicine are eligible for such membership. They have the privilege of the floor and the right to voting representation, but are not eligible to hold office.
